The inspiration for this song began with reflections on time and eternity. As we step into 2026, many are walking through seasons of change and testing, perhaps sensing more deeply the weight of the words, “There is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes feels like a voice prepared for such a time. It resonates with the Chinese cultural awareness of life’s impermanence and fleeting nature—echoing, in some ways, the tones of Buddhism and Taoism—yet it points to a radically different answer: not detachment through seeing life as empty, but discovering eternal meaning in the Creator.
In this Year of the Fire Horse (2026), I offer a special blessing to every listener: May you, under the sun, not chase after vanity nor grasp at the wind, but hold fast to what is eternally true. May you run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. Though the affairs of this world drift like passing clouds, may the Lord’s grace remain unchanging. In the coming year, may your heart be filled with peace, your steps guided with purpose, and though all things pass like the wind, may truth abide firmly within you.
I am also deeply grateful to Yeshua Ministries in India for once again partnering across the seas in this music ministry. Through their use of traditional instruments, they have brought remarkable depth and emotional resonance to this song.

[Verse 1]
The sun rises and sets, returning to where it began.
The wind blows and swirls, circling back again.
Toil and burdens will all return to dust,
Worries and troubles vanish in a fleeting hush.
[Verse 2]
Generations pass, yet heaven and earth remain,
Rivers flow to the sea, then surge back again.
Treasure, silver, and gold will all decay,
Only truth and wisdom will endure and stay.
[Pre-Chorus]
We come naked, and naked we depart.
Though we labor and sow, we cannot always reap.
With added years come heavier concerns,
For life and death obey unchanging terms.
[Chorus]
Where can freedom be found in endless cause and effect?
Our anxious striving leaves us with nothing left.
Yesterday's joy and sorrow fade, then start anew—
Yet no one sees life's meaning through and through.
Fame and fortune are but fleeting mist and dreams,
Folly and pride lead to a life unseen.
Under the sun, all things are in vain,
Clinging to gain is like chasing the wind.
[Tag]
Under the sun, all things are in vain—
Only You are worthy of honor and praise.
